Rome, Italy
Rome isn’t your typical beach holiday, and any beaches nearby are at least a two-hour drive from the city.
However, Rome is the ideal place for sun in October if you aren’t looking for a lazy beach trip.
Rome is known for its abundance of ancient histories, such as the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Vatican, and you can explore all of this under the sun in October.
Temperatures peak at an average of 22.4C with an average of eight hours of sunshine each day.
You may get a little damp though as rainfall does increase during this month and change of season.

Kos, Greece
The Greek island of Kos is part of the Dodecanese islands in the Aegean Sea and it’s a popular place for tourists to come due to the beautiful beaches.
The average daily maximum temperature in October sees highs of 26C with around 8 hours of daily sunshine, so you can’t go wrong with a trip to this island!
While average rainfall does increase to 55 mm, October is still a largely dry month in Kos.
Try to aim for a trip to Kos at the start of October rather than the end, otherwise, you may be faced with lots of clouds and not as much sun.
Lanzarote, The Canary Islands
