The Health Secretary said on Saturday he had recovered from Covid after only a week because of vaccination. But Mr Javid was slammed for saying people sjould not “cower” from the pandemic which has killed more than 129,000.
On Sunday, the Health Secretary shared he deleted his original post and apologised.
He said: “I’ve deleted a tweet which used the word ‘cower’.
“I was expressing gratitude that the vaccines help us fight back as a society, but it was a poor choice of word and I sincerely apologise.
“Like many, I have lost loved ones to this awful virus and would never minimise its impact.”
It comes after Mr Javid was slammed for his original comments, where he praised the effects of the Covid vaccine.
On Saturday, he said: “Full recovery from Covid a week after testing positive.
“Symptoms were very mild, thanks to amazing vaccines.
“Please – if you haven’t yet – get your jab, as we learn to live with, rather than cower from, this virus.”
