A pop-up event space has opened in Bristol which will play host to a dizzying array of live performances.
The venue, which is located next to Breaking Bread at Clifton Downs, has been launched to celebrate 10 years of The Wardrobe Ensemble theatre company.
Open until October, the theatre will be used for a festival called The Mix, which will showcase a lineup of talented artists from Bristol and further afield across the South West.

The Theatre on The Downs, which has been designed by Studio Three Sixty, will celebrate the region’s theatre scene by providing a creative platform for theatre performers, artists and poets.
From above, the space itself may look like a simple tent, but inside lies an an “architecturally transformative auditorium,” designed to effortlessly accommodate different genres, from cabaret to musical theatre.
Over the next three months, people will be able to buy tickets to the shows by visiting the Bristol Old Vic website. From dramatic readings to disco jazz, circus and family-friendly and not-so-family-friendly theatre shows, there promises to be something for everyone.
The festival lineup has been curated by artists in collaboration with the Team Love production company, in the hope it will create industry-wide employment opportunities for fresh, new talent in the arts and hospitality industries.
Kicking off the festival will be the world premiere of The Wardrobe Ensemble’s Winners, which explores capitalism and tracks the shift of labour in the history of food, from farming to fast food.
Organisers are still curating the programme and would like to give local performers a chance to have their turn in the spotlight.
In a bid to keep the venue space alive and kicking, The Theatre on The Downs is launching a £10,000 commission for a company or artist based in the South West to create art that’s suitable for the venue.
