Inside Flight Club’s new fairground-themed bar in Bristol city centre

A popular bar chain which seamlessly combines a “social darts” concept with a classic night out has opened its latest venue in Bristol city centre.

Flight Club offers guests the chance to play a fast-paced version of darts in its stylish bars, and its newest site in Corn Street opened on Friday evening, hosting exuberant crowds keen to both test their accuracy on the dartboard and sample the bar’s range of food and drink.

Housed in the building formerly home to Pranj’s Bar, Flight Club Bristol can hold 200 people, offering both bookable tables and the option for walk-ins for those wishing to chance their arm on the day.

The dart-playing experience of Flight Club has revamped the traditional game into a hip and energetic social activity. Offering a host of multiplayer games, the patented dart tracking technology and automatic scoring system utilised in the venues ensure a fast-paced match.

Pioneering “social darts”, Flight Club also uses tournament technology to connect up to 120 players at one time – crafting a more competitive form of the game. The interior of the Bristol bar seeks to reflect this dynamic twist, using a fairground theme to combine the “nostalgia and warmth of a British pub with the energy and excitement of a fairground”.

Although darts are the centrepiece of the experience at Flight Club, their venues also offer all the amenities of a classic bar.

With a menu containing a range of cocktails, drinks and food, those who don’t fancy any arrows action can eat and drink while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. The concept for Flight Club was concocted in a pub in Devon in 2012, where co-founders Steven Moore and Paul Barham witnessed a young crowd going wild over a game of darts.

Fast forward nine years and Flight Club now boasts seven locations, with Corn Street being the latest addition.

Steve said: “Bristol is a city that excites us a lot and it’s great to have opened our doors to the wonderfully welcoming Bristolians. We’re so excited to be bringing joy to more people and just in time for summer celebrations.

“The area is famous for its lively hospitality scene and we’re just thrilled to be a part of it. It’s still early days, but it’s safe to say that we feel very much at home in our new location.”

Since its opening on Friday, more than 100,000 darts have been thrown in the Bristol site – as calculated by the live dart tracker on the website.

Catering to both experienced darts marksmen and complete beginners, Flight Club seems to be scoring a bullseye in Bristol so far.

Flight Club Bristol bookings are now open on its website and oches are already being booked up well in advance.
