Speaking to LBC, Grace Cunningham, 29, who had travelled back from Dubai on July 11, claimed chaotic organisation in Britain’s quarantine system gave her coronavirus. Ms Cunningham slammed how staff onboard her coach from Heathrow Airport to her hotel forced groups of travellers needing to isolate into “half of the coach” and allegedly did not wear masks. She claimed how on arrival at her hotel, staff failed to wear masks, enforce adequate social distancing and her bedroom had not been cleaned which she believed led her to testing positive during her isolation period as it emerged covid chaos is erupting in the quarantine system.
Ms Cunningham told LBC: “The travel from the airport to the hotel is where I feel like I’ve come into contact and picked it up.
“We were put on a coach – me and two other people from my flight – and we had to sit on that for an hour-and-a-half while we waited for other passengers from different flights to come in.
“About an hour-and-a-half later, around 14 other passengers came onto the coach, from all over the world.”
She explained how even though she was on a big coach, staff forced her and her fellow passengers to “sit in the back half” adding how “they wouldn’t let us sit in the front half.”

The Brit explained how the horrific journey was made worse as the coach took five hours to travel from Heathrow Airport to her hotel just off Oxford Street in central London because it had to drop passengers at an array of hotels across London.
Ms Cunningham slammed: “The staff who were on the coach weren’t very helpful at all.
“The guy who was in charge of conducting it all – we all had to fill out a form – he was passing that round to us using the same pen.”
And in a worrying admission, she said: “He had it in his mouth some of the times. His mask kept coming under his chin.”

She added how communication within the hotel was poor with staff ignoring her requests and concerns about the covid safety of the facility.
Her comments come as COVID cases in the UK have dropped consecutively over the last six days: 46,558 (July 20), 44,104 (July 21), 39,906 (July 22), 36,389 (July 23), 31,795 (July 24), 29,173 (July 25) and 24,950 (July 26).
Professor Peter Openshaw, who sits on the Government’s New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (Nervtag), told BBC Radio 4’s PM programme: “It is exciting to see those rather encouraging figures, but there have been some delays in reporting the figures and we’re still waiting for the full data to be released by the Office for National Statistics.
“So let’s not get overexcited.”
