Bristol residents woke up to see balloons drifting across the skyline this morning (Wednesday, August 11) during a spectacular mass ascent.
Dozens of balloons took off from four locations as part of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta Fortnight, which runs between August 2-15.
Beginning at around 6am on a bright, clear morning, balloons were launched from Queen Square in the city centre, Hanham Common in Hanham, Merchants’ Academy in Withywood and Bridge Learning Campus in Hartcliffe.

It is the the first time that balloons have ever ascended from multiple locations for the festival, and it is also the first time that it has taken place across a fortnight.
Our reporters and photographers were on the scene to capture the action as it happened.
