The baby will be an older sibling to the couple’s young son Wilfred, who turned one at the end of April. It comes after the Prime Minister, 57, married Mrs Johnson, 33 just over two months ago, in a private ceremony in Westminster Cathedral on May 29. Announcing the news on Instagram, Mrs Johnson also revealed that she had a miscarriage at the start of the year, which left her “heartbroken”.
She wrote: “Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas.
“At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken.
“I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I’ve also felt like a bag of nerves.
“Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well.
“I found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experienced loss so I hope that in some very small way sharing this might help others too.”
The Instagram post suggests the child is due in the Christmas.
Mrs Johnson and the Prime Minister welcomed their firstborn son on April 29, 2020.
The youngster, named Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, after the couple’s grandfathers and the hospital doctors who treated Mr Johnson for coronavirus.
